The lighting of transshipment and logistics centres has experienced a renaissance in recent years. This is due to the significant opportunities that the use of LED technology brings with it. In recent days, the new Jaguar – Land Rover car company has been handed over the use of the railway and road transshipment area in Lužianki - the INTERMODAL TRANSPORTATION TERMINAL, which is directly adjacent to the production plant itself.

LED-SOLAR, s.r.o. designers participated in the design of technical parameters for LED lighting of the complex. The overall technical solution consists of the lighting design of several building units. Finished products warehouse - a huge parking lot for new cars is designed for temporary storage and preparation for subsequent transportation of new cars to customers. Then there is the rail yard, a transshipment building with its own loading ramp. There are also a number of other service buildings in the large area - a gatehouse, wagon repair shop, shelters, etc.

The demands of the continuous use of the stevedoring yard workspace and the constant night work required the use of the highest quality and most reliable LED lighting products. The investor used luminaires from LED-SOLAR, s.r.o. for the entire construction.

Luminaires for transhipment lighting

LED Lighting of the Intermodal Transport Terminal in Lužianky consists of a system of LED-SOLAR luminaires designed for illumination of road constructions using LED Street SII model series luminaires. The high power LED Rail Line luminaires used on the lighting towers are part of the rail luminaire family. This includes LED Rail Spot directional luminaires designed to illuminate significant points as required by the client.

This building is one of the largest illuminated transport structures in the country. As high demands are placed on the lighting of the transshipment yard by the users, it had to pass a demanding test at the end. The high quality of the designed and implemented system was confirmed by the final certified measurements.

Success in the competition

LED lighting of the Intermodal Transport Terminal in Lužianky was also highlighted by the construction contractor, STRABAG,s.r.o. by entering this construction in the Building of the Year 2018 survey. The public vote awarded this technological work of art the 13th place out of the final 20 buildings in a serious competition of various architectural jewels. LED-SOLAR, s.r.o. owes this success primarily to the design office PRODEX spol s r.o. for the selection of products in the project and to Strabag, s.r.o. for the trust shown in the Slovak manufacturer.

The contract included not only LED lighting of the intermodal transport terminal itself. The entire road bypass around the extensive area of the new car plant was also equipped with LED-SOLAR luminaires.
