Lighting of pedestrian crossings was one of the topics discussed at the meeting of the Council of the Association of Towns and Municipalities of Slovakia (ZMOS). The inclusion of this topic in the agenda confirmed that the safety of its own citizens is always the first priority for local government representatives. Technically correct pedestrian crossings in Slovakia are still not commonplace.

On 11th and 12th April 2017, members of the Board of the Association of Towns and Municipalities of Slovakia met in the Congress Room of the Patria Hotel in Štrbské Pleso. They discussed many important topics that are currently at the forefront of the interest of mayors and mayors of Slovak towns and municipalities.

One of the most pressing issues is compliance with the letter of the Road Traffic Act, which is supposed to guarantee safe pedestrian crossings for Slovakia and its citizens. The European Commission strictly demands compliance with the transposition of the European directive. This imposes compulsory illumination of all pedestrian crossings on roads. The obligation affects all road managers and owners in all Member States of the European Union. Since the defined transitional period has ended, it is time for action.

The invitation to the meeting of the Council of the Association of Towns and Municipalities of Slovakia was accepted by the manager of LED-SOLAR, s.r.o. Ing. Jaroslav JADUŠ, PhD... He presented the requirements of the new legislative regulation for the illumination of crossings to the attending mayors and mayors and also presented sample implementations to the attendees. LED-SOLAR, s.r.o. as a supplier of special luminaires for pedestrian crossings has a lot of experience based on realized installations.

Safe crossings - a professional matter

Proper illumination of pedestrian crossings is primarily a professional matter. A truly safe crossing can be guaranteed by a competent person. It should be a matter of course for road managers to commission technical documentation for the lighting of pedestrian crossings. Each place where such a crossing is located has its own specific conditions. These must be taken into account by the designer in his design of the lighting solution. He or she will not only propose the construction procedure, but can also advise and suggest the choice of the appropriate technology for the systems to be used to illuminate the crossings.

The lecture entitled 'How not to kill a fellow citizen or the correct lighting of pedestrian crossings' captivated those present. Also attractive was the offer of a free technical consultation service that LED-SOLAR, s.r.o. has introduced for Slovak towns and municipalities.

In cooperation with its partners, LED-SOLAR, s.r.o. offers simple, fast and affordable turnkey solutions that can help to eliminate deficiencies on Slovak roads.
