A stone witness to ancient times has been towering over the village of Turňa nad Bodvou since the 13th century - Turňa Castle. The original small castle was rebuilt, expanded and repaired in 1357 by the then owner, Ján Tornay, who bravely defended the Hungarian Kingdom during the Tatar invasion.
The turbulent history of the castle was reflected in the construction efforts of many owners. As early as 1848, soldiers were accommodated there, whose negligence caused a devastating fire, as a result of which the castle became a ruin.

Thanks to local enthusiasts and their respectable local patriotism, its rescue is currently underway.

The activity of the village of Turňa nad Bodvou itself also contributes significantly to these efforts of enthusiasts. The company LED-SOLAR, s.r.o. was approached with a request to illuminate this significant cultural and historical landmark, which is set on a high hill towering above the village.

Innovative design practices

The designers of LED-SOLAR, s.r.o. had to cope with specific requirements and conditions for the placement of lighting fixtures.
The result of these efforts was an unconventional solution of using specially developed and manufactured directional lights with a very narrow beam characteristic and a long range for this purpose.

Long-range lighting fixtures

LED lights with a power of only 17W with the type designation LED Spot RS G1 1A1 are installed on several sides of the castle on public lighting poles and powered by the municipal lighting system.

In the construction of these special lights, noble structural materials were used, which contribute to maintenance-free and highly reliable operation. Stainless steel fairing, anodized aluminum heat sink, top-quality printed circuit boards from CH-PRINT, a.s. from Slovakia, powerful American CREE LEDs and other components used are a guarantee of high quality of the lamps.

High-quality construction and top-notch components are a guarantee of good work, which these light "cannons" do every night. Despite the huge distance of about 700 to 1000 meters from the installation site of the lamps, the castle is perfectly visible at night and captivates with its majesty all romantic souls who can observe it undisturbed in the dark of night.

Since the actual electricity consumption of the lamps used is negligible, the solution to this lighting task brought the investor maximum effect for minimal money.

Thanks to the enthusiasm of the village representatives and the design erudition of the employees of the company LED-SOLAR, s.r.o., a work was created that the patriots from Turna nad Bodvou can be rightfully proud of.
